Preparing A Presentation For An Authors' & Booksellers' Conference

Posted at 12:11pm on 17th May 2012

I must apologise for leaving you dangling with only half of Mel's Online Book Club discussion summary for Rob Bell's Love Wins.  The other part will be available soon, I promise.

I've been preparing my notes and Power Point slides for the presentation I shall be giving at a conference next month (June).  It’s for authors and booksellers, and will be taking a look at how websites, blogs, and other social networking can help to market and sell books. The trouble is, that with so many other pressures on me - trying to sell our house and buy another, plus obtaining probate and winding up my father's estate, following his death, I'm finding it quite hard to keep my thoughts focussed.

Even my tried and trusted methods of inspiration aren't working.  With so many other pressures on me - trying to sell our house and buy another, plus obtaining probate and winding up my father's estate, following his death, I'm finding it quite hard to keep my thoughts focussed.

RIGHT BRAIN

Even the tried and trusted methods of right brain inspiration that I shared with one of my readers aren't working.  How can they when the phone never stops ringing, and the postman brings bereavement forms and other ghastly things that have to be filled in, signed, dated and sent off? It’s all so demanding of left-brain activity.

So the only way is to rise early - which is when many authors find their creative juices flowing - and get writing before the day starts with all the other demands. And hopefully once the conference is over, the presentation can go live here, on my website. Until then - back to the grindstone.
